Ver 1.1 Panic before the Flood Dev log


Heyo, I've been so busy with classes recently that I was too lazy to do much work. But I am starting to kick it up a notch so that I can finish this game before my deadline. To all those unaware this is my first game I made in a weeklong game jam and after the jam I used it as a semester long project I was working on for a club. But this is also just my very first game that I've actually made before from start to finish. 

Now that I am actually working on it again I am starting to make good progress. I removed all the bugs from the previous version (and incurred the wrath of new ones.) and I am starting to add new content. I finished making a checkpoints system and I'm currently working on adding new upgrades the player can pickup when they finish more levels.  These upgrades only affect the players movement, but it'll give the game more flair as you play. I liked the idea that hollow knight had where you get more movement abilities the more you played.

I have also gotten some help from other artists in the same club and one of them made me some incredible robot animations. They look so polished it makes all the other stuff in the game look out of place. 

The project is due on December 5th so I have a little more than a month to finish this up. And if I really buckle down and work hard I could have a fun game on my hands. 

Before the next Dev log I plan to add a few new levels 2-3 and tweak the beginning of the game a little bit. I am going to add two more mechanics sliding and wall jumping. And I am going to add a timer to each level that counts down and will give you a game over if you run out of time.  I am also going to post the new version of the game next week, hopefully I can get new tiles too, but that's probably just wishful thinking rn. 

I am also thinking of adding an interactive level select menu like in the mario bros games since those are so freakin cool! But it all depends on how much time I have.
